My name is Vicky. I am a 55-year-old single woman, divorced for seven years. I am the mother of two adult children. I live in Austin, Texas and work in the public sector. I have lived in Austin two years. Prior to that I lived in Montgomery, Texas; Magnolia, Texas; and Houston, Texas. I am from the Little Rock, Arkansas area. I grew up mostly in Little Rock, but we hopped around a bit. I went to six elementary schools, one junior high and two high schools. I am a graduate of the Arkansas State University. My degree was in journalism and writing has been a part of my life for as long as I remember. I hope to share some of it with you on this journey.
This blog started as an essay diary for a trip. It has grown into a journey that continues, as one of my readers said, “off road.” I will continue to write as long as there is discovery. The trip may be over, but the journey never is. Thank you for coming along with me.

My heart and my soul supports and follows you on this journey of a lifetime to pursue your dream of travel and writing. I have traveled to all but 6 states, and will be interested in your blogs about each region as you travel through.

Can I come along? You’d have to ditch the dog. But I don’t scratch myself. Sounds like fun. I hope you have a blast!

Vicky-
Finally got to sit down and catch up on your travels. Oh my…what a wonderful writer you are, girl!!! Yep–I think it’s time for a book by Vicky! I feel like I have taken every step with you!! FYI–We got to go to Chicago and watch Danielle and her roommate run the Chicago Marathon. She finished in 4 hours and 45 minutes with 11 minute miles. Not bad for a first timer!! She had SUCH a wonderful time. Setting goals are a great thing–just like your goals of traveling.
Keep it up, girl. I am so thankful you are getting some well deserved rest and relaxation and travel joys! hugs to u, dear friend…donna

Vicky, it really looks like you are having quite the adventure! I absolutely loved the pictures of all the gorgeous trees. I would love to be able to see Kerry better. I can’t see his face well enough in the photo that you put up of him and his wife. Please tell him I said, hello! Kerry, if you are reading this…HELLO from Debbie in Little Rock!!!!
Vicky, Cookie is just the cutest thing. She’s a little doll.

I found your blog by accident (if there is such a thing) and just wanted to say how touched I am by it and how thrilled I am for you to be able to experience this “journey of a lifetime”. The renewed sense of life that such a journey brings is exhilarating; it must be, because just the idea of it allows me to experience that feeling vicariously, and your writing serves as an amplifier. I can tell that you recognize this journey for the gift that it is and your writing tells me how connected you are to it. I look forward to reading more of your journey and its peaks and valleys, which continues “off road”. Thank you for having the courage to be transparent.

What a wonderful encouraging comment. Thank you so much. You captured so much of what I feel in that. You must be a writer! Please come back. I don’t write as much right now, but do when the journey dictates and the spirit moves.
